About the Make Background Transparent (PNG)

Make the background of a photo transparent and download a PNG you can drop onto any design, slide or website. The AI cut-out runs in your browser at the photo’s full resolution, and the edges are cleaned so no trace of the old background shows on a new colour.

How to use it

  1. Drop a photo into the box, paste it with Ctrl+V, or tap to choose one from your phone.
  2. The first time only, allow the AI model to download (5 MB on phones, about 47 MB for the quick model on computers, about 75 MB for the full HD model). It is saved in your browser, so your photo never has to be uploaded.
  3. Wait a few seconds while the background is removed on your device. Drag the slider to compare before and after.
  4. Choose transparent, white, any colour or a blurred background, then download at full resolution.

Tips

  • Save as PNG to keep transparency. JPG has no transparent background, so it would turn white or black.
  • For logos and graphics with flat colours, check the edges at 100% zoom before you use them in print.
  • Transparent PNGs are larger than JPGs. For web use, resize them to the size you need.

Frequently asked questions

What is a transparent PNG?

A PNG image whose background pixels are see-through, so whatever is behind it — a coloured slide, a website, another photo — shows through around the subject.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The background is removed by an AI model running in your browser. Your image stays on your device.

Can I make a transparent background on my phone?

Yes, in a modern mobile browser. Phones use a lighter 5 MB AI model that runs smoothly on mid-range devices; for the sharpest edges on hair and fur, use a computer.
