WhatsApp Link Generator: what it does
Type your WhatsApp number with the country code and an optional first message, and get a wa.me link that opens a chat with you in one tap, without saving your number first. Put the link in your Instagram or TikTok bio, on your website’s “Contact” button, in Google Business Profile or in email signatures, and print the matching QR code on flyers, packaging, menus and shop windows. The link uses WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat format: it works with personal and WhatsApp Business numbers, on phones and on WhatsApp Web. Spaces, brackets and the + are removed for you, and the message is encoded so emoji and Arabic or Urdu text arrive correctly.
How to use it
- Choose what the code should open: a link, WiFi, WhatsApp, email, phone, SMS or a contact card.
- Fill in the details. The QR code updates as you type.
- Under Design, pick a style and colours, and add your logo if you like.
- Download a PNG (up to 4096 px) or an SVG for print, and test it with your phone camera before printing.
Tips
- Always include the country code and drop the leading 0 of local numbers: 0300 1234567 in Pakistan becomes +92 300 1234567.
- Pre-fill a message that tells you where the customer came from, such as “Hi, I saw your Instagram post about…”. You’ll know which channel works.
- Tap “Test” before sharing: it opens the chat exactly as your customers will see it.
- For businesses, set up a WhatsApp Business greeting message too, so people get an instant reply.
- On printed QR codes, add a line like “Scan to chat on WhatsApp”: people scan more when they know what happens.
Frequently asked questions
What is a wa.me link?
WhatsApp’s official “click to chat” link. https://wa.me/ followed by a full international phone number (digits only) opens a chat with that number, and ?text= adds a message that is typed in for the person, ready to send.
Does the other person need to save my number?
No. That’s the point of the link: anyone with WhatsApp can open a chat with you without adding you to their contacts.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. wa.me links work with both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business numbers, on Android, iPhone, and WhatsApp Web or desktop.
Why does my link say the number is invalid?
Usually the country code is missing, or a leading 0 was kept. Use the full international number without the + or 00, for example 447700900123 for a UK mobile.
Is my number sent anywhere?
No. The link and QR code are made in your browser. Nothing is sent to us. Only when you tap “Test” does your browser open wa.me, like any WhatsApp link.
