Etsy Listing Photo Size: what it does
Etsy recommends listing photos at least 2000 pixels wide and tall, a landscape or square first photo, and enough space around the item that Etsy can crop it into square, portrait and landscape thumbnails without cutting the product. This tool makes that photo for you: the AI removes the background on your device, places the product in the middle of a 3000 × 2250 (4:3) frame with breathing room on every side, and keeps the file under 1 MB so it uploads even on a slow connection.
How to use it
- Drop a product photo into the box, paste it with Ctrl+V, or tap to choose one from your phone.
- The first time only, allow the AI model to download. It is saved in your browser, so your photo never has to be uploaded.
- Pick the marketplace. The product is centred on white at that marketplace’s size; adjust the product size in frame and the shadow.
- Download the JPG for that marketplace, or “All sizes (ZIP)” for Amazon, Shopify, Etsy and eBay at once.

Tips
- Etsy shows your first photo cropped in different shapes across the site. The preset fills 70% of the frame so the product survives a square crop.
- Your first listing photo should be at least 635 px wide and tall, or it may show up lower in searches. 3000 × 2250 is far above that.
- Etsy warns that files over 1 MB may not finish uploading on slow connections, so the JPG is re-compressed until it fits.
- Etsy buyers like warm, natural photos. Use “Colour” with a soft cream or light grey for a handmade look, or keep pure white for a clean catalogue.
- After uploading, use Etsy’s thumbnail adjustment tool to check how the first photo looks in each crop.
