Compress Image to 50KB: what it does

Many application portals ask for a photo under 50 KB and a signature under 20 or 50 KB. Drop your image and it comes out as a JPG under 50 KB, at the highest quality that fits: the tool tries quality levels first and only makes the picture smaller if it must. For a signature or a 20 KB limit, just change the number. Sizes are measured in thousands of bytes, so the file is accepted whether the website counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. Everything runs in your browser, so your photo and signature are never uploaded.

    How to use it

    1. Drop your images into the box, paste them, or tap to choose them from your phone. Add as many as you like.
    2. Pick the output format and quality. Optionally set a maximum size or a target file size in KB.
    3. Each image is processed on your device and listed with its old and new size.
    4. Download images one by one, or all of them as one ZIP.

    Tips

    • Photograph your signature in black ink on plain white paper in good light, crop tightly, then compress.
    • Set “Max size” to 600–800 px for passport photos: plenty for forms, and quality stays high within 50 KB.
    • If the portal asks for specific pixel dimensions, resize to them first, then compress.
    • Rename the file as the form asks (for example photo.jpg) after downloading. Some portals reject names with spaces.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I make a photo smaller than 50 KB?

Drop it in the box: the target is already set to 50 KB. The tool finds the best JPG quality under 50 KB and reduces the dimensions only if needed. Then click Download.

Can I compress a signature to 20 KB?

Yes. Change the target to 20. Signatures are mostly white paper, so they compress very well and stay sharp.

Why does my computer show 48 KB instead of 50 KB?

The tool counts 50 KB as 50,000 bytes and stays just under it, so the file passes on every site. Windows and macOS often show sizes in 1,024-byte units, which looks a little smaller.

    Are my photos uploaded?

No. Compression runs entirely in your browser on your device.
