Free Quote Generator: what it does

Send a quote that looks as professional as the work you are pricing. Add your business and the client, list what is included with a short description under each line, and set a “valid until” date. Totals, discount and tax are worked out as you type, and the PDF has a clean masthead, a clear total and your terms. When the client says yes, switch the document type to Invoice and the same details become the invoice. Everything runs in your browser, so your prices are never uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Fill in your business and your client. Add a logo if you like: it is read by your browser, not uploaded.
  2. Choose the document type, number, dates and currency, then add your line items, any discount and the tax rate. Totals update as you type.
  3. Open “Payment details, terms and notes” to add your bank details and terms, and pick an accent colour and font.
  4. Click “Download PDF” and choose “Save as PDF” in the print window. Your details are kept in this browser for the next invoice.

Tips

  • Break the job into lines the client can understand (“Design”, “Build”, “Launch”) rather than one lump sum: it makes the price easier to accept.
  • Use the details line under each item for scope and exclusions, e.g. “Up to 2 rounds of changes”.
  • Set “Valid until” to 14 or 30 days, so old prices don’t come back to bite you.
  • Put payment terms in the terms box, e.g. “50% to start, 50% on delivery”.
  • When the quote is accepted, change “Document” to Invoice: everything you typed carries over.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a quote and an invoice?

A quote is an offer: what you will do and for how much, valid until a date. An invoice is a request for payment for work done or agreed. This tool makes both; change “Document” to switch.

Is my quote uploaded?

No. It is made and saved as a PDF by your own browser. Your details stay only in this browser, and “Clear all” deletes them.

Can I add tax to a quote?

Yes. Type the tax name and rate, and the tax is shown on its own line above the total.

What is the difference between a quote and an estimate?

A quote is usually a fixed price; an estimate is an approximate price that may change. Both are available under “Document”.

Is there a watermark?

No. It is free, with no watermark, no sign-up and no limit.
