Text Cleaner: what it does
Text copied from chat apps, AI assistants, Word, PDFs and websites often brings along things you can’t see: zero-width spaces, non-breaking spaces, soft hyphens, direction marks, markdown symbols like **bold** and ## headings, and stray blank lines. They break character counts, make posts look odd, and can stop a search or a form field from matching. Paste your text and get a clean copy: each kind of clean-up is a checkbox, and a list shows exactly which hidden characters were found. Words are never changed, emoji and their joiners are kept intact, and spelling joiners in Persian, Urdu, Hindi and other scripts are kept too. Tick “Keep blank lines on Instagram” and empty lines get an invisible blank, added last so the cleaning can’t undo it. The text stays in your browser.
How to use it

Tips
- Use it before pasting into Instagram, LinkedIn or a website editor, where hidden characters show up as gaps or odd breaks.
- Markdown leftovers appear when you copy from chat apps that format with **asterisks**; this turns them into plain text.
- Keep “Straight quotes” off unless a system rejects curly quotes: curly quotes are correct typography.
- Writing with an AI assistant? Clean-up fixes formatting only. Be open about how you wrote it where it matters.
Frequently asked questions
What does the text cleaner remove?
Invisible format characters (zero-width spaces, joiners outside emoji and scripts that need them, BOM, soft hyphens, direction controls), odd spaces, markdown symbols, trailing spaces and extra blank lines. Each is an option you can switch off.
Will it change my words?
No. It only removes invisible characters and formatting symbols, and fixes spacing. Every word stays as you wrote it.
Does it keep emoji?
Yes. Emoji such as 👨👩👧 and ❤️ are built with hidden joiners and selectors; those are recognised and kept.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Cleaning happens in your browser, and the draft is kept only in this browser so it survives a refresh.
