JPG to PNG Converter: what it does

Turn JPG photos into PNG files for design tools, editing, or forms that require PNG. PNG is lossless, so the converted image is saved exactly as it is and won’t lose any more quality, however often you edit and save it. Convert one image or a batch, cap the dimensions if you need to, and download them one by one or as a ZIP. The conversion runs in your browser: no upload, no queue, no limit.

    How to use it

    1. Drop your images into the box, paste them, or tap to choose them from your phone. Add as many as you like.
    2. Pick the output format and quality. Optionally set a maximum size or a target file size in KB.
    3. Each image is processed on your device and listed with its old and new size.
    4. Download images one by one, or all of them as one ZIP.

    Tips

    • Converting to PNG doesn’t add a transparent background. To remove the background, use the background remover: it saves a transparent PNG.
    • PNG files of photos are much larger than JPGs (often 5–10 times). Convert only when you need PNG specifically.
    • Editing an image many times? Convert to PNG first, edit, then export to JPG once at the end: no repeated JPG blur.
    • Lowering “Max size” is the only way to make a PNG photo smaller. Quality doesn’t apply to PNG.

    Frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. It keeps the quality the JPG has now and prevents further loss, but it can’t bring back detail that JPG compression already removed.

Will the PNG have a transparent background?

No, the background stays as it is in the photo. Use our background remover to cut out the subject and get a transparent PNG.

Why is the PNG file bigger than the JPG?

PNG is lossless: it stores every pixel exactly, while JPG throws away detail to save space. For photos, that makes PNG several times larger.

    Are my photos uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser on your device.
