Instagram Grid Preview: what it does

See how your next posts will look on your Instagram profile before you publish anything. Add the photos you plan to post, plus a few recent posts if you like, and they appear on a profile grid exactly as Instagram shows it today: three columns of 3:4 tiles, each centred on its photo. Drag the tiles into a different order until neighbouring photos work together. The numbers show the posting order, because the newest post always lands at the top left. When the grid looks right, download a preview image to send to a client or your team, or download the photos themselves renamed 01, 02, 03 in posting order. Unlike feed planners that ask for your Instagram login, nothing here connects to your account and nothing is uploaded: the photos stay on your device.

How to use it

  1. Drop the photos you plan to post, or tap to choose them from your phone. Add a few recent posts too if you like.
  2. Drag the tiles into order (on a phone, drag the dotted handle). Top left is the newest post.
  3. Tap a tile to move it with the arrows, remove it, or mark it “Already on my profile”.
  4. Download the preview image, or the photos renamed in posting order (post 01 first).

Tips

  • Add your last 3 to 6 posts and tick “Already on my profile”, so you judge the new posts next to what your followers see now.
  • Alternate close-ups and wide shots, or light and dark photos, so tiles next to each other don’t blend together.
  • Tick “Show whole photos” to see how much the 3:4 tile cuts off. Photos in 3:4 (1080 × 1440) show whole; square and landscape posts lose their sides on the grid.
  • Reels covers also appear as 3:4 tiles, so keep any title on a cover in the middle.
  • Working for a client? Download the preview image and send it for approval before you schedule the posts.

Frequently asked questions

How do I preview my Instagram grid before posting?

Add the photos you plan to post. They appear on a 3-column profile grid with 3:4 tiles, the way Instagram shows them now. Drag them into order, and the numbers tell you which one to post first.

Do I have to log in to Instagram?

No. This tool never connects to your Instagram account: it doesn’t read your profile and can’t post for you. You add the photos yourself, so you can also add recent posts saved from your phone.

Why do my photos look cropped in the preview?

Instagram’s profile grid shows each post as a 3:4 rectangle, centred on the photo. A 4:5 post loses a thin strip on each side, and square and landscape posts lose more. Tick “Show whole photos” to compare, or resize to 1080 × 1440 so the whole photo shows.

What do the numbers on the tiles mean?

The order to post them: 1 first. The newest post appears at the top left, so the photo you want at the top left is posted last. Posts you marked “Already on my profile” show “Posted” and aren’t counted.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The preview is built in your browser on your device, and the ZIP contains your original files, unchanged, just renamed in posting order. Nothing is sent to our servers.
