eBook Template: what it does
A free guide or short eBook is one of the best ways to grow an email list, but laying one out usually means wrestling with design software. Paste your text here and it reads like a real book: a solid-colour cover with thin rings, a serif body, every chapter on a new page with a big chapter number, a drop cap on its first paragraph, large pull quotes and tip boxes. The running header shows the chapter you are in. You see every page as you type, and the PDF is made by your own browser, so your manuscript is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Paste or type your text, or open a .txt or .md file. Add a title, subtitle, author and date if you like.
- Choose a template, font, colours, paper size and orientation. The preview shows the real pages as you type.
- Click “Download PDF”. Your browser’s print window opens.
- Choose “Save as PDF” as the destination and save. The text stays selectable in the PDF.
Tips
- Start each chapter with # Title: it opens on a new page with its number (01, 02…).
- Keep chapters short for a lead magnet: 5 to 7 chapters of a few pages each are read to the end far more often than one long text.
- Use “> **Tip:** …” for practical advice: it becomes a highlighted tip box in a different font, which breaks up the page.
- A plain quote (> …) becomes a large pull quote. Use one per chapter at most.
- Fill in “Cover label” (for example “Free guide”) and the author: they go on the cover.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make an eBook from my text?
Paste your text, start each chapter with a line beginning with #, add a title and author, and click Download PDF. Choose “Save as PDF” in the print window.
Can I sell the eBook or give it away?
Yes. The PDF is yours, with no watermark and no credit line. Make sure you own the rights to the text and anything you quote.
Can I change the cover colour?
Yes. The cover uses the accent colour. Pick a dark page colour and the cover turns dark too, with the title in the accent colour.
Does it work for Arabic or Urdu?
Yes. Right-to-left paragraphs are detected and set in IBM Plex Sans Arabic. The drop cap is left out on right-to-left paragraphs, because it would break the joined letters.
Is my manuscript uploaded?
No. Everything is laid out and saved by your own browser. Your text never leaves your device.
