Instagram Fonts: what it does
Instagram has no font menu for your bio or captions, but you can still use bold, cursive, small caps, bubble and typewriter letters by pasting them in. Type your name, a bio line or a caption here, tap the style you like to copy it, and paste it into Edit profile (Name or Bio), a caption or a comment. The text is made from Unicode look-alike letters, so it stays styled for everyone who sees your profile, on any phone.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text into the box: a name, a bio line, a caption or a title.
- Scroll the styles: bold and italic, cursive and gothic, bubbles and boxes, small caps and upside down, and glitch text.
- Tap a style to copy it.
- Paste it into Instagram, TikTok, X, WhatsApp, YouTube or any other app.
Tips
- Style one part of your bio (a name, a title or the call to action) and keep the rest plain. A whole bio in cursive is hard to read on a small screen.
- Put the words people search for (your name, what you do, your city) in normal letters in the Name field: Instagram search matches those, and fancy letters may not be found.
- Your Instagram bio holds 150 characters. Most fancy letters are a single character there, but check the total with the Instagram bio character counter.
- Want blank lines between bio lines or caption paragraphs? Use the Instagram line break generator so the spacing isn’t removed.
- Small caps and bold sans look clean on profile grids; cursive works for a single highlighted word.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change the font in my Instagram bio?
Type your bio here, tap a style to copy it, open Instagram → Edit profile → Bio, paste, and save. Instagram itself has no font setting for bios; pasted Unicode letters are how everyone does it.
Can I use these fonts in my Instagram name?
Yes, in the Name field. Your username (the @handle) only accepts letters, numbers, full stops and underscores, so fancy letters don’t work there.
Does Instagram allow fancy fonts?
Yes. They are ordinary Unicode characters, the same kind as emoji, and are widely used in bios and captions. Keep important words plain so people can find you in search.
Why does my fancy text look different on another phone?
Each phone draws the characters with its own fonts. The style stays the same (bold stays bold, cursive stays cursive), but the exact shapes vary, and very old phones may show boxes for rare characters.
Do I need an app?
No. Everything runs in this web page, on your phone or computer, and nothing you type is uploaded.
