The meter counts every request this page makes and the bytes each one sends. Downloads are this site’s code and fonts; AI tools also download their model in a background helper, which your browser’s developer tools (Network tab) show too. Check it there, or switch on airplane mode.

Check it yourself: once this page has loaded, switch on airplane mode and check a PDF. It still works, because your files never needed our servers. How the meter works · Privacy controls

PDF Metadata Editor: what it does

The title, author, subject and keywords stored in a PDF are what PDF readers show in the window title and the document properties, and what search engines and document systems can use when they index the file. When a PDF comes out of Word, a scanner or a printer driver, those fields are often wrong: the author is a computer account, the title is an old file name, and the keywords are empty. Drop a PDF here, change the fields you want, and download the edited copy. Empty fields are left out, and you can keep the original created and modified dates or drop them. The old hidden XMP metadata is removed at the same time, so it can’t contradict your new details, and names on comments can be removed too. The pages themselves are not touched, and the PDF never leaves your device.

      How to use it

      1. Drop one or more PDFs into the box, or tap to choose them.
      2. Read what each PDF reveals: author, title, apps, dates, XMP metadata, comment names, attachments and earlier saved versions.
      3. Change the title, author, subject and keywords, choose whether to keep the dates, and click “Download with these details”.
      4. Download each clean copy, or all of them as one ZIP. The pages themselves are copied unchanged.

      Tips

      • Write the title for people: PDF readers can show it instead of the file name, and search engines may use it as the result title for a PDF.
      • Use the business name as the author for documents you publish, rather than a personal account name.
      • Keep keywords short and comma-separated: “annual report, 2026, sustainability”.
      • Untick “Keep the created and modified dates” if the dates give away more than you want, such as when a draft was really written.

      Frequently asked questions

How do I change the author of a PDF?

Drop the PDF in the box, type the new name in “Author” (or leave it empty to remove it), and click “Download with these details”. The other fields keep their current values unless you change them.

Why is the XMP metadata removed?

Many PDFs store their details twice: in the document info and in an XMP block. Some readers prefer the XMP copy, so leaving the old one could show the old title or author. Removing it makes your new details the only ones.

Does editing metadata change the content?

No. Only the document details change. Pages, text, fonts and images are copied as they are.

Can I edit many PDFs at once?

Yes. Drop several files and each one gets its own set of fields, or use “Download clean copies” to remove the metadata from all of them in one ZIP.

      Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Editing happens in your browser on your device, and nothing is sent to our servers.
