Bold Text Generator: what it does
Most social apps have no bold or italic button: Instagram captions, X posts, LinkedIn posts, Facebook posts, YouTube titles and comments are plain text. This tool turns your words into Unicode bold, italic and bold-italic letters (serif or sans) that keep their style when pasted. Type or paste a phrase, tap the version you want, and paste it into your post. Use it for a headline, a key point or a list label, the way you would use bold in a document.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text into the box: a name, a bio line, a caption or a title.
- Scroll the styles: bold and italic, cursive and gothic, bubbles and boxes, small caps and upside down, and glitch text.
- Tap a style to copy it.
- Paste it into Instagram, TikTok, X, WhatsApp, YouTube or any other app.
Tips
- Bold (sans) blends in best with the normal app font. Serif bold looks more formal, like a book or a newspaper heading.
- Bold one hook line or the first words of each list item; a whole post in bold reads like shouting.
- Screen readers may not read Unicode bold as words. Keep hashtags, @mentions and links in plain text so they still work.
- On X, each bold letter counts as 2 characters. A 140-letter bold sentence uses the whole 280 limit.
- Need italics for a book, film or podcast title in a caption? Use Italic (sans) for a clean look.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make text bold on Instagram, X or LinkedIn?
These apps don’t offer bold formatting in posts. Type your text here, tap the bold style to copy it, and paste it into the app. The bold letters are Unicode characters, so they stay bold.
Do hashtags and links work in bold?
No. A hashtag or link written in bold letters is no longer the same text, so apps don’t treat it as a tag or link. Keep them in plain letters.
Does bold text count as more characters?
On X, yes: each bold letter counts as 2. Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn count most bold letters as one character, though the stored size is larger.
What is the difference between serif and sans bold?
Serif letters have small strokes at their ends (like Times New Roman); sans letters don’t (like the app’s own font). Sans bold looks more natural in social posts.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The bold version is made in your browser as you type.
