Glitch Text Generator (Zalgo Text): what it does
Glitch text, also called Zalgo or “cursed” text, stacks combining marks above and below each letter so the words look corrupted, spooky or broken. Type your text, choose the glitch strength (light, medium or heavy) and tap to copy. The same marks make strikethrough, underline and slashed text, which also paste into apps that have no formatting buttons. Good for Halloween posts, gaming names, horror edits and memes.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text into the box: a name, a bio line, a caption or a title.
- Scroll the styles: bold and italic, cursive and gothic, bubbles and boxes, small caps and upside down, and glitch text.
- Tap a style to copy it.
- Paste it into Instagram, TikTok, X, WhatsApp, YouTube or any other app.
Tips
- Light glitch stays readable and fits in names and titles; heavy glitch is for a single word as a visual effect.
- Heavy Zalgo text spills over the lines above and below it. Some apps and games clip it or block it in names; try light strength there.
- Each mark is a separate character, so glitch text uses up character limits fast: one heavily glitched word can be over 100 characters.
- Strikethrough is handy for “old price → new price” in captions, or a joke correction.
- Screen readers read the marks as noise or skip the word. Don’t glitch information people need.
Frequently asked questions
What is Zalgo text?
Text with many Unicode combining marks (accents and symbols meant to sit on top of letters) stacked on each character. The name comes from an internet meme. The letters underneath are still normal letters.
Why does the glitch text not change when I type?
On purpose: the marks follow a fixed pattern, so your text doesn’t jump around while you type, and the same text gives the same result each time.
Can I use glitch text in Discord, TikTok or game names?
In most chats and captions, yes. Some apps and games limit marks per letter or block them in usernames; if it is rejected, use the lighter strength.
How do I make strikethrough text?
Type the text and copy the Strikethrough style. It adds a long stroke mark after each letter, which works in apps without a strikethrough button.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Everything is made in your browser as you type.
