Report Template: what it does
Most report templates are a Word or Canva file you have to fight with. This one works the other way round: paste your text, and it becomes a designed report. The cover looks like a sheet of ledger paper with one accent square, the title, subtitle and who prepared it. Inside, every section heading gets a number (01, 02…), so a long report is easy to find your way around on paper, and tables, “Key takeaway” boxes and a row of big numbers are made from plain text. You see the real pages as you type and save them as a PDF from your browser. Your text is never uploaded.
How to use it
- Paste or type your text, or open a .txt or .md file. Add a title, subtitle, author and date if you like.
- Choose a template, font, colours, paper size and orientation. The preview shows the real pages as you type.
- Click “Download PDF”. Your browser’s print window opens.
- Choose “Save as PDF” as the destination and save. The text stays selectable in the PDF.
Tips
- Lead with the result. Put the three most important numbers in a stat row at the top (:::stats, one “number | label” per line, then :::).
- Use ## for each section: the numbers 01, 02, 03 are added for you and stay in order when you move sections around.
- Make a table with | between the columns and a |---| line under the header. Columns of numbers are right-aligned automatically.
- End each section with one “> **Key takeaway:** …” box. Readers who skim will read only those.
- Fill in the author and date: they go on the cover (“Prepared by”, “Published”) and in the page footer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a table in the report?
Type the header row with | between the columns, a line like |---|---| under it, and one row per line. Columns that contain only numbers, prices or percentages are right-aligned. A table that is too long for a page continues on the next page with its header repeated.
Can I edit the report afterwards?
Keep your text: it is saved in this browser, so you can come back, change it and download a new PDF. The PDF itself has real, selectable text.
Why does a print window open?
Your browser saves the PDF through its print window, which keeps the text sharp, selectable and searchable. Choose “Save as PDF” as the destination.
Can I change the colours?
Yes. Pick any page and accent colour. A dark page colour switches the text to a light colour automatically, so it stays readable.
Is my report uploaded?
No. The pages are laid out and saved as a PDF by your own browser. Your text never leaves your device.
