Resume Template: what it does
A good CV is easy to scan: the facts a recruiter looks up in one place, your story in another. This resume template puts your contact details, skills and languages in a tinted sidebar, and your name, role, a short summary and your jobs in the main column. Each job is one line, “Role | Company | dates”, and becomes a tidy entry with the dates on the right and your achievements as a list below. Section headings are small and quiet, so your job titles stand out. There is no photo slot, because many countries advise against photos on CVs. The PDF is made by your own browser: your CV is never uploaded, and there is no sign-up and no watermark.
How to use it
- Paste or type your text, or open a .txt or .md file. Add a title, subtitle, author and date if you like.
- Choose a template, font, colours, paper size and orientation. The preview shows the real pages as you type.
- Click “Download PDF”. Your browser’s print window opens.
- Choose “Save as PDF” as the destination and save. The text stays selectable in the PDF.
Tips
- Write a two- or three-line summary as the first paragraph, before any heading: it is set slightly larger under your name.
- Write each job as “### Role | Company, City | 2022 – now”, then two to four bullet points with results, not duties.
- Put skills, languages and education in the sidebar with :::side … ::: so the main column stays about your work.
- Use numbers where you can (“used by 300 cafés”, “cut order time from 4 minutes to 2”).
- Keep it to one or two pages. If it runs to a third page, cut the oldest jobs to a line each.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a job?
Type a line like “### Senior designer | Nova Studio, Stockholm | 2022 – now” and the bullet points under it. The role is in bold, the dates on the right and the company under the role.
How do I fill the sidebar?
Contact lines go in the Contact field. Anything else, such as skills, languages or education, goes between :::side and ::: in the text, with #### headings. Skills listed under :::skills appear in two columns.
Why is there no photo?
Many countries, including the US and the UK, advise against photos on CVs. Leaving the photo out also keeps the layout the same for everyone.
Can I make it landscape?
No. CVs are read and printed in portrait, so this template is portrait only, in A4 or US Letter.
Is my CV uploaded?
No. It is laid out and saved as a PDF by your own browser, and your personal details never leave your device.
